Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird This plane is a millitary aircraft. The Blackbird is a plane that can go very fast. It has been doing very good so far, and I don't think that it is going out anytime soon. The SR-71 flys very high, about 85,069 feet. Contrary to many people's thinking, the SR-71 never carries wepons. Not even a gun! It can fly at over Mach 3, and we can thank it's specal engines to fly that fast. The spikes in the engines move backwards or forewards to let in more or less air. The two cockpits are for two different reasons. The first is for pilots, and the second is for navagators. The stick on the front is for the "Pitot tube" (pronounced: "pea-tod") and it helps measure the speed and other things. The engines make "shock diamonds" that stretch out the back when it goes high above the speed of sound.
